Saving Copper

My sweet Copper has been in the ER since
Friday (12/27/19) fighting for his life. I rescued Copper 2 years ago this coming March. True and Faithful Pet Rescue saved him from animal services in Dade County, where his last owner dumped him outside in a crate by a dumpster, without informing anyone he had CHF. When I rescued him I was obviously unaware of his heart condition, Congestive Heart Failure. Having just lost another dog in November to CHF I knew that I had to keep him, and that he’d be in the best care with me. Dealing with a dog suffering with CHF is emotionally, physically and financially taxing. But something I wouldn’t trade for the world. They are the most appreciative and loving dogs. He was fighting active CHF when I rescued him and was not expected to live longer than 6 months. Well here we are almost 2 years later and he is in active CHF again. Right now he is dependent on oxygen. He had an EKG today, one of his heart valves had burst recently, causing his heart to go into failure again. Which then causes fluid to build up in his lungs, and causes the deprivation of oxygen. The vets at Suncoast ER and Blue Pearl Sarasota have been giving him extensive doses of Lasix and trying to get him stable enough to come off oxygen. If he can come off oxygen and we can stabilize the heart failure he can come home and continue being the happy go lucky pup he has been the last couple years. This is all very sudden and heart wrenching. As most of you know as the hours pass and the days go by, especially in an ER Vet Clinic the bills pile up. I am at $6100 in vet bills as of right now and time and days are still adding on. Any little bit helps and Copper and I truly truly appreciate it. If there are left over donations, I will be donating them to True and Faithful Pet Rescue.
