Christopher's Car

Donation protected
This is Christopher, and these are some of his family members. It seems like life has thrown him for a loop, without throwing him a buoy.

We met Christopher when we arrived over a year ago. He was our first and favourite taxi driver that has become one of our closest friends.  He showed us the ropes around Nairobi, and we are forever grateful. However, since we met, life has been more than unkind.

The man who lent a car to Christopher (while keeping half of his earnings) has sold his car. Not only that, Christopher, working a 2nd job to support his immediate and extended family, was laid off for lack of business. In addition, his crop that he poured his most recent earnings into (corn & beans) failed this year due to the drought. He's had to sell his chickens (eggs being the last source of income) to provide for his immediate and extended family's school fees.

He makes $50 dollars a week, and school fees alone cost $150 per term, per child. He pays for two of his own children's education, along with three extended family members (only because he makes the most money in his family!). He also has to pay for transport every day to town and back, food, rent, and other housing costs.

If that's not enough,  because he no longer has a vehicle, he is losing most of his customers. Over the past year, we have witnessed all of this first hand alongside our friend.

We can confidently say he is one of the hardest working men we know.

However, despite all of this, he continuously cries out to the Lord --  confident that He will answer as he has before. His faith runs deep. We are left longing for a trust and a hope that withstands like Christopher's, through every valley and in the darkest night, with no sign of relief.

Now. Will you help us?

We want to contribute to the purchase of a car for Christopher. Our goal is $10,000. It may seem a bit steep, but cars don't lose their value here as they do in Canada (and taxes are a lot higher). This would ensure the purchase of a car that wouldn't need much work done to it. We are hoping to raise the funds for a Christmas gift for Christopher and his family.

With this, he will be able to have a steady source of income again, he will regain his customers, he will have more opportunities to provide for his family and will ultimately be able to use these car conversations to glorify God and strengthen the church.

Will you help us be part of the Kingdom work in Kenya? Will you help us contribute to helping a family out of poverty? Will you help us contribute to providing an education for Christopher's family?

Thank you for caring enough to read this far. If you have any questions or want further information about this amazing man, please feel free to contact us!
