My name is Kevin Ernst (guy on the left) and I am fundraising for my friend Chris Robson (guy on the right).

In the last couple of weeks, Chris was diagnosed with cancer of the throat and is in need of financial support as he goes through radiation therapy and some chemotherapy. When I was 20, I went through my own cancer battle, and I would never have made it through without the incredible support of generous, compassionate, and faith-filled people. On behalf of Chris, I am asking for your help to raise $20,000 for his expenses over the next three to four months. My hope and prayer is that a company of people might rise and support this man in his story now.

As a filmmaker, I am indebted to Chris; because he is the first professional cinematographer I ever worked with over 15 years ago. He is the person who helped me see “light” through the camera lens, and I find it incredible how many businesses, organizations, schools, non-profits, and individuals he has partnered with over his long and varied career to tell their stories through cinema. Chris’ curiosity, generosity, creativity, and friendship have been most meaningful to me and my life.

However, as fate would have it, he has been relying on Uber driving to make ends meet in recent years. He has scraped by working tirelessly for 40-45 hours each week, ensuring he can cover his expenses and maintain some semblance of stability in his life.

Most of Chris’s friends are of a certain age and live with the understanding that bad things can happen--are going to happen--in the foreseeable future. What will it be? Will we go fast or slow, lingering in pain. Will it be curable? How much time do we have left, good time? Will we be able to pay for the medical costs, pay the rent? How are we going to survive?

Whether you are friend or stranger; your care, good will, and financial gift is a part of the DNA of a world that values “light” in the darkness, and good endings to difficult stories.
