Christopher McIver- what can we say about this great man. Well he's a friend, a coach, a brother, an uncle, a son, a husband and one amazing daddy to a little boy. He's a dedicated employee who works multiple jobs to provide for his family. But not only that, he has a kind heart and has always been there for others in their time of need. Well, now it's time to pay it forward to Chris and his family. Let us explain...
On October 12, 2017, his wife Jenna, was informed that he was being rushed to the hospital and that it was important that all family and close friends be there. Soon after, we learned that Chris had suffered a massive brain bleed from an aneurysm that burst. He was immediately rushed to Jefferson Neuroscience Center where brain surgery was performed to remove the left side of Chris's skull, so repairs could be performed. This left Chris with brain damage to his front left lobe and paralyzed on his right side. He was unable to speak and had lost the ability to understand what had happened. Fortunately, he remembers all his family and friends!
Chris spent 2 weeks in the ICU where he made incredible progress. He began eating without the help of a feeding tube and was able to speak his name, count to 10 and even tell his wife, he loves her!! He would smile at pictures of their son Tristan as well. So, he was released from ICU and was just transferred to a rehabilitation center on October 25th.
But, this is just the beginning for the McIver family. Once Chris's brain has had time to heal, he will need to endure more surgeries and more rehabilitation to repair the damage that was done to his brain. It's going to be almost a year long process.
We ask all of you, to help contribute to this family. Medical bills are already pilling up, leaving Jenna to have to take care of it all. We would like to make life just a little bit easier for her and her son, so she can continue to focus on helping Chris move forward and be the wonderful mother she is to their son.
