I'm Tara Lett, a Vancouver songwriter & performer. I had a huge awakening when I broke my leg just after my son had turned 1 years old! What would I have done without the support of my family and friends? What if I didn't have anyone to lean on like some of the families in Vancouver? That's when I learned about the YWCA and their amazing programs for single mom's! I was unable to do much Christmas shopping that year so I went online and donated to YWCA as my gifts for everyone on my list that year!
This year I am delighted to not only be fully healed but to be performing my Holiday Single "Christmas Party" for some of the families that YWCA supports at their annual Christmas Party! Not only that, I will be celebrating the release of my holiday single, by donating $500 .00 cash and asking others to join me in my goal of raising $3000.00 for the YWCA!
What will these funds contribute to?
"YWCA services such as employment, social gatherings, bursaries, legal support, holiday hampers, YWCA single mothers housing, emergency food vouchers and thrift shop gift certificates. Most importantly they create a support system for each other - it's pretty amazing how important these weekly groups are for the participants. For women who have no family in town, these groups become their family. Donations in support of Single Mothers Support Groups go a long way because the neighborhood houses and community centres donate the weekly space. " - YWCA representative
