Keeping Courage through COVID and Cancer

For those that don't know me, I'm Kassie, and my family has had just about the worst 2020 you could imagine. At the beginning of the year when COVID-19 started I had just started a new job, navigating being a manager of a busy veterinary practice in a pandemic. Come May, my husband got extremely sick, vomiting non-stop. I rushed David to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with failing kidneys. He was hospitalized for 6 days when the devastating news came - Multiple Myeloma Cancer. Since then we have suffered the sudden loss of a family member and our beloved dog Bailey, COVID-19 scares, and a huge move (to lessen the cost of living). All while working full time and caring for our 5yr old son Kayden. David has completed radiation and has been undergoing chemotherapy since then. Due to the pandemic, he is unable to work, as he is extremely high risk. Even after applying for Disability in May, we have yet to be approved which has left just my income to support our family of three since May. Our luck changed when we were approved for stem cell transplant with Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, although this comes with a big expense. We will have to live within 15 minutes of the facility for the entire month while he goes through his treatment, in which we currently live about an hour away.
