The Foyer Imuhira Charity offers children from the streets of Bujumbura, Burundi a home, where they feel loved, supported, and safe. Our home, or how we call it “Foyer”, now counts 14 children, as we welcome two new girls in September and we could not be prouder of our family.

Le Foyer Imuhira Charity offre aux enfants des rues de Bujumbura, au Burundi, un foyer où ils se sentent aimés, soutenus et en sécurité. Notre foyer, compte maintenant 14 enfants et nous ne pourrions pas être plus fiers de notre famille.

But most importantly, we could never run this charity without your help, and I wanted to thank everyone who has supported us along this journey. With of course, a special thank you to our partners who support us every year.

Mais le plus important, c'est que nous ne pourrions jamais faire fonctionner cette association sans votre aide, et je voulais remercier tous ceux qui nous ont soutenus tout au long de ce aventure. Avec bien sûr, un merci spécial à nos partenaires qui nous soutiennent chaque année.

This year, our kids decided to each write a thank you letter to our partners. I wanted to share a few letters with you (attached) as there is no better way to express how valuable your help is to them. I have translated one from Clairia in English at the end of this message.

Cette année, nos enfants ont décidé d'écrire chacun une lettre de remerciement à nos partenaires. Je voulais partager quelques lettres avec vous car il n'y a pas de meilleur moyen d'exprimer à quel point votre aide est précieuse pour eux.

This year, more friends asked us how they can help and support Foyer Imuhira. This Christmas, we have therefore defined how you could help us, for which we are immensely grateful for:

Our first wish would be to offer the kids a private tutor to help them succeed at school. This especially applies for our kids that are already in high school.
Our second wish would be to have a guard for the girls’ house. Bujumbura is very unsafe and a home without any men can be dangerous. A big change for us this year was that we now have two homes, one for the boys and one for the girls.

Cette année, de plus en plus d'amis nous ont demandé comment ils pouvaient aider et soutenir le Foyer Imuhira. En ce Noël, nous avons donc défini comment vous pourriez nous aider, ce dont nous vous sommes immensément reconnaissants:

Notre premier souhait serait d'offrir aux enfants un tuteur privé pour les aider à réussir à l'école. Cela s'applique particulièrement à nos enfants qui sont déjà au lycée.
Notre deuxième souhait serait d'avoir un gardien pour la maison des filles. Bujumbura est très peu sûr et une maison sans homme peut être dangereuse. Un grand changement pour nous cette année est que nous avons maintenant deux maisons, une pour les garçons et une pour les filles.

Therefore the total we are raising is €5,000 (~ £4,500):

(1) Tutor - €3,000 p.a.

(2) Security - €1,500 p.a.

(3) Christmas presents - €500

Any additional donations will be added to their “activities pot”, which goes mainly towards football training or dance classes :)

Les coûts pour lesquels nous collectons de l'argent sont donc les suivants :

(1) Tuteur - 3,000€ p.a.

(2) Sécurité - 1,500 € par an.

(3) Nöel - 500€

Tous les dons supplémentaires seront ajoutés à leur "pot d'activités", qui sert principalement à financer des entraînements de football ou des cours de danse :)

We have already raised 2,000 euros from a fundraise dinner, so we are now missing 3,000 euros!

Nous avons déjà récolté 2 000 euros lors d'un dîner de collecte de fonds, il nous manque donc maintenant 3 000 euros !

Letter from our youngest - Claira (Translate to English)

"Hello,

My name is Claira R., I am super happy to write to you today.

I have had the chance to be in the Foyer Imuhira since August 2021, and this has changed my life. I am an orphan and lost both my dad and mum and my life before coming to the Foyer Imihira was very hard.

Today I am able to go to school and I am in year 1. The other kids in the Foyer are my brothers and sisters and the supervisors of the Foyer are like my parents. I feel very well surrounded and loved.

I like to draw flowers, danse, and play with dolls with the other girls in the Foyer that I look up to like my big sisters.

I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the chance that you have offered me , to have once again a family, and to be able to build my future as I can go to school.
