Put Food on the Table for Christmas!

For over 10 years, you and people like you have donated to support the poor in and around the town of Coroico, Bolivia. You believe in Lena, you care about the downtrodden. Thanks to you, there's food on the table this Christmas!

My aunt Lena Harney, a Franciscan sister, has lived in Coroico for 25 years educating the young and supporting the needy.  Each year, she and the parish (thru donation) provides a Christmas lunch for the elderly poor of the area. It is a joyous occasion for the old folks of the town.  It won't happen this year because of the pandemic.

In its place, the parish is hoping to put together a box of much needed staples. Each box will contain rice, pasta, lentils, canned fish and cooking oil to support these people over the holiday period. Their kids are struggling due to Covid so there is less support when it is needed most.

Please help us bring some joy and sustenance to the elderly and the needy in Lena's community this Christmas. Can you buy one or more boxes this Christmas for the most needy? The old and the poor.

Each box costs USD30 and provides the making of many meals over the holidays. 

Make your donation go twice as far. An anonymous donor will match your giving up to a maximum of $5000 if you donate before December 15th. 100% of your funds will go directly to purchasing food for the poor. No admin costs or expenses associated with this campaign.

Due to the crisis there is more suffering in the community than ever. Lena and the team would like to prepare 500 boxes for donation on Dec 19th if we can help her raise the funds.

The poor and the old are suffering the most during this pandemic. Bolivia is one of the poorest countries in the Americas and the government does not have the resources to adequately support the old and the frail.

Lena Harney is a Franciscan nun who has worked with the poor in Florida, Peru and Bolivia for the past 40 years. She runs a small farm and boarding house near Coroico for children so they can attend the local secondary school. She is active in the community with other local leaders like Fr Freddy working to enhance the lives of the poor in the community.
