<div>This beautiful Christmas project is being led by Benito Apaza Nolasca, a Pampamisayoq from the Q’eros community and a member of the Apaza lineage. Born in 1960, Benito was raised in ancestral traditions alongside his family and great Altomisayoqs such as María Apaza, Mariano Quispe, and Pascala Apaza-Quispe, inheriting ceremonies, agricultural knowledge, and the sacred art of weaving connected with the Pachamama and the Apus.

<div>Known as Q’ori Songo (“Heart of Gold”), Benito has shared his wisdom for more than 50 years with teachers and artists around the world. Today, he leads this act of solidarity to bring joy to the children of the Munay Tika school in Charcapata, located more than 17,000 feet high on Apu Huamanlipa, in the very heart of the Andes.

<div>In this region, the climate is extremely cold, with sharp winds, low-oxygen air, and temperatures that can drop drastically even during the day. Winters are particularly harsh; trees do not grow at these altitudes, and families depend on very limited resources for cooking and staying warm. Life in Charcapata remains deeply traditional but also challenging: the intense cold, isolation, and climate changes, including the reduction of snowcaps on the mountains, make the need for warm clothing and community support even greater.

<div>In this spirit of service, we are organizing a Christmas “chocolatada” with food, pots, plates, cups, spoons, and a small community celebration with plenty of food to share. We are also gathering clothing and gifts for the children, who face the severe climate of this remote region every day.
