Christine's Oxygen Fund

My mother, Christine, is a wonderful woman with an extremely generous heart, who does everything in her power to help out her loved ones when she can. In this situation, however, she is unable to help herself, so here's where I come in.
My mom has a disease called IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis) which means that her lungs are scarring and are unable to take in oxygen, and doctors have no explainable reason why. She was diagnosed in 2009 and has outlasted the disease 3 years longer than expected, which I am so thankful for, but in the last year her lung fuction has declined drastically. She is currently only at 40% lung function, and she needs to be on oxygen if she wants to have any chance of prolonging her life. I am asking for help for her to be able to afford her oxygen tanks, as she is not eligible for funding through Alberta Aides to Daily Living.
Now here is where you come in: the average cost to have an oxygen tank is about $400 per month, however that can fluctuate depending on her activity level. My mother has gone through all the hoops to get coverage, but at the end of the day, she is not at "end of life" stage which is the only time oxygen is funded. My grandmother had the same disease, and she was only granted funding 3 weeks before she passed away. I would hope that it is not the case with my mom.
$2,400 would potentially give my mom oxygen for 6 months, which is when she could apply for funding again, but like I said, she is not near the end of her life so it is unlikely she would be approved. $4,800 for one year is what I am hoping to raise, giving my mom a buffer between her applications for funding.
If you feel lead to give, I know my mother would be extremely grateful for your gift, as would I! She has not asked me to do this - I am doing the only thing that I can think to do.
