I am organizing this campaign on behalf of Christina's sister, Cathy Little.

Christina is Ill - Help Christina Stay in Her House with her Pets

My sister Christina suffered a near fatal medical crisis a year ago at the age of 49 that has left her unable to work.  When we finally realized what was happening and got her to the hospital, it was discovered that she had experienced several heart attacks, which resulted in a large blood clot developing in her heart. This clot had been sending small clots to her brain causing her to have a series of strokes.  The doctors diagnosed her with advanced heart failure.

I would like to tell those of you who don’t personally know my sister a little bit about her.  She has worked her entire adult life as an advocate for the most vulnerable among us-children and animals.  She received her doctorate in child psychology from Yale University at the age of 30, and her work since then has focused largely on babies who have experienced severe trauma.  Countless children are happier, healthier, and safer because of her tireless efforts to help them overcome the experience of child abuse and neglect. Her passion for helping children also extends to animals.  I can not count the times she has rescued an animal or paid for vet care for an animal or owner in distress.  It is this capacity for kindness and empathy that makes her an incredible human being.

Although she has Medicaid to help with medical bills, she will not be able to receive disability benefits for at least another 18 months.  She has now exhausted her retirement and savings and is desperately trying to hold on to her house and pets.  It is my hope that she doesn’t lose anything more of her life and it is extremely difficult not to be able to help her.

Our goal with this campaign is to help Christina pay her mortgage and house expenses, as well as food and medical care for her pets, for 18 months.  An estimate of house mortgage payments, utilities, plus pet food and vet care is $54,550.

Any help in reaching our goal would be greatly appreciated!
