In my life for 44 years. I watched her grow up , have 4 children, many grandchildren and an extended non blood related family . Each person in her life has been as important to her as every other person. Some years back, Chris and her husband John took it upon themselves to take in two of their grandchildren because the parental situation of one of her kids was not ideal. Then they went even further and adopted those children. It has been that way with Chris in many of the family situations that have come about. She has taken care of her mom with Alzheimer’s in her home for 7 years. She is the Matriarch of her family and her ever growing ‘brood’ continue to rally around her for every family event. Some time back, Chris was diagnosed with ALS which in an incurable, deteriorative disease. She has to be moved around with a hoyer lift to use the bathroom, is wheelchair bound and has either lost or is losing the use of her arms and legs. Leaving her home is an enormous challenge but staying in it ...trapped is even more difficult. A few months back, Chris was forced by the situation to resign from a job she loved working with and for people she respected. As a result the income levels have dropped off while the physical demands on her body have increased as have the expenses associated with her illness. This is a woman who has flung open her doors ...wide ...to help others her entire life. Now Chris is In Need of some help. She will need a way to transport her wheelchair and as time moves along a myriad of other unexpected expenses. Please open your hearts and your checkbooks to help this most deserving woman and her family. There will likely be
