Chris vs. South Africa

Hello! If perhaps you do not know already, my name is Christiana Massalley. I am a full-time student at Georgia State University majoring in African-American Studies. As my favorite professor Dr.Simanga says, "When you plan a journey, it belongs to you...but when you start the journey, you belong to it.
Although my journey towards graduation has had many unexpected twists and turns, I am grateful for everything, every experience and everyone I have learned from to get this far. Thank YOU for being apart of that journey.
I have been offered an amazing opportunity to study race, gender and class in South Africa with the African-American studies department. I have always wanted to travel outside of the country to gain both experience and knowledge about: cultures, food, values, societal norms, history etc. from an etic(outsiders) perspective. During this trip, we will be studying the Nelson Mandela, the history of Apartheid, class stratifications, gender/sexuality, racial disparities and social movements of South Africa and how it has impacted their present society.
My trip cost is [$5,000]
Program Cost Includes:
• Round-trip airfare
• All ground transportation, excursions and entrance fees
• Breakfasts, Lunch and Dinners when not in the field.
• Hotels
• Health/Evacuation/Repatriation insurance
Thank you guys so much for anything you can help with.
As they say, I get by with a little help from friends. <3
