Christian Wood Memorial Cleanup

Donation protected
As an avid kayaker and lover of nature, high school senior Christian Wood had decided to hold a cleanup of the James River for his Collaborative Service Project, a requirement for the completion of his IB Diploma. The cleanup would be held on Earth Day, and it was his goal to hold the event annually. Before he could make the arrangements for the event, Christian passed away in February after an afternoon of kayaking on the James. Several IB seniors from Trinity Episcopal have since taken on the project to honor Christian.

The First Annual Christian Wood Memorial Cleanup will be held at several locations in Richmond, Va, on Earth Day this year. We as a group have gained some monetary support from the James River Association and approval from the James River Park System. However, the funds they are providing is not enough to cover the cost of supplies and equipment (trash bags, gloves, first aid) or the cost of t-shirts for the participants.

Everyone who knew Christian-- the Wood family, the Trinity community, everyone at Passages Adventure Camp, and so many more-- would greatly appreciate your support for this event. Successfully holding this cleanup of the James would mean that Christian's goal of giving back to the city and river he loved for his whole life is fulfilled.
