She does not look “sick”.
Lori is a lovely kind young woman who I had the pleasure of meeting in November 2017. If she were a “number”, she should have passed away by now.
I was asked to write this on behalf of her loving son Christian.
She was diagnosed the summer of 2015 with metastatic (stage IV) cervical cancer. Patients rarely survive 1-2 years. She had surgery with removal of her reproductive organs, continued chemotherapy and radiation and then the cancer progressed to her liver and lung. She underwent further chemotherapy and then progressed again with further liver lesions, and at this time the cancer is wrapping near her bladder and the organs around it, and she is on the verge of kidney failure.
When I saw her for another opinion I knew that there was nothing I could do to prolong her life with 4th line chemotherapy and I encouraged her to focus on the quality of her life-no matter how many days or months that might be. At our visits every month she never ceases to amaze me with her strength and her determination to live the remainder of her days out of the hospital and not “sick”.
However, the “price of survival” comes with an actual price and her medical bills from her previous year of treatment streams constantly in causing much stress and hardship. She is unable to work at this time of obvious reasons, and she is a single mother of four boys. One of her sons wanted to start this Go Fund Me campaign on behalf of his mother. I was honored to be asked by her son to write this on their behalf.
She has been strong and independent since her diagnosis and likely her entire life. Please show her that she has someone to stand with, that she is not alone.
Please support her at this time so she can live the remainder of her life enjoying her loved ones, not worried about “paying” for these precious and indeterminate days.
