Christian was born in April of 2000 with a closed pulmonary valve. He had 2 surgeries in the first 2 days of life to open the valve and put in a shunt. Later that year he had a heart cath to open the valve and the valve was eventually removed completely. He lived for 14 years with no pulmonary valve and NO LIMITATIONS! In December of 2014 Christian underwent open-heart surgery to put a pulmonary valve into his heart. Since that time God has blessed him in so many ways. He has gone from a frail 5'1" 87 lb 14 year-old to a strong 5'9" 160 lb 17 year-old. He has thrived in the classroom and on the baseball field.

Now he faces a new challenge. The very procedure that allowed his body to thrive has apparently caused him to grow too fast. We discovered his scoliosis in November of last year after he was hit from behind in a car accident. Since that time we have crisscrossed the country trying to find a way to first eliminate the need for surgery by halting his scoliosis progression (which we were unable to do) and second to find an option that still allowed him to maintain his flexibility and keep his back from being fused together.

After months and months as our son's curve has progressed from a Thoracic Curve of 30 degrees and a Lumbar curve of 25 degrees to nearly 50 degrees up top and 40 on the bottom, we finally found a procedure that can help our son by correcting his scoliosis without compromising his flexibility.

We have found a great team of surgeons in NYC that are changing kids lives with Anterior Scoliosis Correction (ASC) procedures. This team of doctors plan to fix Christian's back without the need to do any sort of fusion. Which means no metal rods at all in his back and 6 weeks of recovery!

Insurance will not cover the majority of the costs so our out of pocket is estimated to be about $90,000. $15 from the purchase of this shirt will go directly towards those costs. We will be doing other fundraisers and shirts will be available for purchase there. If you are out of town or are unable to go to one of our events we welcome you to purchase your shirts here. They will be shipped as soon as possible.

We would also ask you to pray for Christian. He is mentally and physically exhausted from all of this and just wants it to be over. So please pray for his strength and ours as well.
