Christ Church Malawi Trip 2018

Dear Family and Friends,
We’re excited to be traveling to Mcheneka, Malawi from May 20 to May 28 with a group from Christ Church! Although our church’s long-term partnership with Hands at Work, a non-profit organization, and the village of Mcheneka continues throughout the years, we regularly send teams and individuals to deepen and strengthen our relationships. The purposes of this trip will be for the team to learn, serve, encourage, and participate. In a country of 18 million people, the HIV/AIDS epidemic has caused over 1 million people to be HIV positive currently, and has left nearly one million orphans.
We go to learn first hand how to build relationships and engage with the community moving forward, learn more about the Hands at Work model of care, and to learn more about the needs and resources of Mcheneka. We seek to be an advocate for the most vulnerable in Mcheneka when we return. We seek to serve by working alongside local, Malawian Care Workers, many of whom are our brothers and sisters in Christ, who care for orphans day in and day out, listening to them and being present with them. We seek to encourage the Care Workers by affirming the incredible value of their work. We also seek to participate, listening to Care Workers stories and appreciating them, playing with the children, visiting their homes.
As you can probably see, it’s going to be a wonderfully full time for us as we learn, listen, serve, encourage and participate in the community of Mcheneka. We all hope to grow together and in our individual walks with Christ through this amazing opportunity.
We would love it and be very thankful if you would pray for our time on this mission trip. Please pray:
● That the whole team would be open to actively being a part of the spiritual growth and strive towards the goals of the missions trip.
● For the leaders of this trip who will be orchestrating and discipling the group.
● That the Care Workers and the children will see and find, through us, the love of Jesus, as we see it and find it through them, and that it would be a time of mutual encouragement and love in Christ.
● Finally, that we would fully experience this overseas missions trip with open hearts and minds, and that we would do this all to God’s glory and His kingdom.
More than anything else, we are soliciting the prayers of friends and family. We know that with the Holy Spirit’s leading, our time will be fruitful.
