Our beautiful mother, Chris Shabel (Powell), passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at 8:25am after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis disease just after celebrating her 80th birthday.
We are in need of your immediate support and assistance. We need to raise a total of $14,000 for her funeral arrangements ASAP. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! We need to raise this by the funeral and cannot do this alone! If you have not yet donated and can do anything at all, please do so right away. (As of this posting, we have a total of about $5,500, so we ONLY need another $8,500!)
In addition, could you help us by sharing this with friends? Getting the word out really makes a difference!

Chris has been a community activist for over 30 years and dedicated her life to community service, volunteering her time, energy and resources to making sure that Los Angeles, Hollywood in particular, has maintained and improved over the many years for it to be the amazing place it is today. She has played a major part in history, including: being one of the founder members of the Hollywood Studio District Neighborhood Council (HSDNC), President and participant of the Hollywood Democratic Club for over 15 years, honored as Woman of the Year in State of California AND Hollywood/Los Angeles by prominent politicians, honored as "People of the Year" by LA Weekly twice, and many other awards, too many to mention at this moment.
