Chris's medical fund

My Aunt Chrissy was diagnosed with ALS in 2011 and went from being a vibrant, healthy 52 year old woman to being unable to walk, talk, eat or move anything except her eyes in less than a year.   For the past 4 years, aunt Chris has been wheelchair bound, nourished via feeding tube, and required round-the-clock care.  Through it all, her spirits have remained high and she has held steadfast to her strong desire to live her life to the fullest and watch her only child grow, get married and start her adult life.  Chris's husband Alex, daughter Paulina and son-in-law Asher have given every piece of themselves to care for her, love her and support her through the most heartbreaking disease.  Their dedication to her has been awe-inspiring.

Up until recently, Chris has managed to ward off illness and avoid most of the infections that are so often fatal to ALS patients.  This December however, a bad case of pneumonia caused Chris to go into cardiac arrest.  Forever a fighter, Chris managed to pull through and is responding well to the medications and treatments being given to her. She is currently in ICU and has a long road of recovery ahead of her before she can hopefully go home.

Why we need your help...
While in the hospital, Chris needs someone by her bedside 24 hours a day.  Since she is completely unable to move, speak, or communicate in any way, she would be unable to call for help, press a call button or get someone's attention if she needed help.  Chris's daughter and husband have been taking turns staying at the hospital for 12-18 hours shifts, but they need assistance.  Hiring aids to be with Chris has to be paid for out of pocket and the costs add up extremely quickly.  In talking to Chris's daughter the other day she said, "It is stressful enough to watch my mother go through this, but to have to worry about how we are going to pay to have someone there to make sure she doesn't choke or anything while i'm at work is just too much to handle."

Additionally, there are many medical expenses that are not covered by insurance.  This money would help Chris' family with things such as portable ventilator, accessories to help with the oxygen tank, handicap accessible aparatus' for the home, etc.
