Chris and Lora's "Make a Baby" Fund

In the year 2000 a young man fresh out of high school, ready and eager to take on the world with dreams of being a professional muscian, had his world turned upside down when the doctors found a tumor on his right lung. He was diagnosed on July 7 with Hodgkins Lymphoma, only a week before his 18th birthday.

He and his family, with God's angels at thier side, fought an uphill battle against the cancer and came out victorious.

Five years later, while pursuing a degree in Music Education, the young man met a lovely young lady (if I do say so myself ;-) ) Within three years they were married and ready to start a family of their own. However, a better sense told them to wait a few years to (a) find jobs and a place of their own to live, and (b) obtain a better security in their finances, which could only come by first  successfully achieving (a).

At last the Young Man and the Lovely Lady had a place and a town they could call home. They had jobs, he a successful and well-loved band teacher at both the middle school and high school levels, and she a store manager at a secure retail compnay with aspirations for a possible promotion in the furture. They were happy. And they were ready, more than ever, to begin their journey as Father and Mother. Only, when they began their eagerly anticipated trip, they found a roadblock.

As a result of the chemohterapy and the radiation recieved as treatment for his Lymphoma, his "workers" were injured.  Their quality of work was still good, but there numbers were too few to get the job done.

All hope was not lost though. With the modern medical marvels, doctors could take his "workers" and hers, and assist them in a successful union. Their dream of becoming a Father and Mother was alive once more.

The Young Man in the story above is none other than Chris Pittman, and the Lovely Lady (if you haven't already guessed it) is me, Loraine Pittman (known to many as Lora).

Before we were ever married in 2008, we dreamed of having a family together. We even have two names, a boy and a girl, picked out already. However we discovered a natural conception is not feesable for us and we have only a few options left to choose from. In-vitro Fertalization, or IVF, for us seems the best option. This will allow the child, or children, to still be our genetic combination as opposed to using that of a donor.

Such a procedure though is costly and is not covered by insurance, and that's where you, my dear reader, come into play. With the love and support of our family and dearest friends our dreams can be a reality. Any contribution you may make will be greatly appreciated. I want to be clear that we don't expect anything from you, but any help you can provide will be counted as a blessing. Any money raised will be added to our own from our savings to cover the cost of the procedure, the medications needed, and the start up costs of family expansion.

Please help us in making our dream a reality.
