Chris Chadsey, 29 (dirty 30 coming up!), currently resides in Chino Hills, CA with his wife, Shalani, and his two dogs. Chris graduated from Ruben S. Ayala High School in 2001, where he was a two-year letterman while being voted co-captain the varsity baseball team. Upon gradutation, Chris completed Advanced Volkswagen Training and went to work as an automotive technician for Volkswagen of America.

On May 31, 2008, Chris married long-time girlfriend Shalani Lusk in a ceremony above the Malibu coastline. They moved back to Chino Hills (to the street where Chris grew up) in December of 2012, and spent the beginning of 2013 renovating their new home and planning a 5 year wedding anniversary trip back to their honeymoon location in Koh Lanta, Thailand. In all, things were going well.

Chris' health was good with the exception of some minor issues that he had seen several doctors about since 2011, namely itchy skin, followed by weight loss and a nagging cough. Chris' mom, Candy - a Hodgkin's Lymphoma survivor since 1994 - suggested that his symptoms sounded like Hodgkin's. However, when Chris mentioned this to doctors, they failed to see a correlation. In March of 2013, Chris had some blood work done that indicated an iron deficiency and he was having some tests run for the deficiency when his diagnosis was jump-started by a chance.

On April 15th, 2013, just over a month before his 30th birthday, Chris saw a chiropractor in Chino Hills for some lower back pain. An x-ray revealed shadowing in his chest, and he was advised to see a doctor right away. The next day, x-rays were performed at Kaiser in Ontario, CA, followed by a CT Scan. Just three days later, on April 18th, Chris was meeting with an oncologist who informed him that he had advanced stage cancer.

The oncologist showed him CT images of several tumors, the largest of which was a 17 cm mass around his heart and lungs. He was told that his life would change permanently from that day forward from the long term effects of treatment. After a bone marrow biopsy, chest biopsy and several other tests, Chris received his official diagnosis, Stage IV Hodgkin's Lymphoma, with likely liver and spleen involvement. Thankfully, the disease has no bone marrow involvement. He was ordered off of work during his treatment, and told to expect 8 months (16 treatments) of ABVD Chemotherapy, followed by radiation. Chris began his first round of Chemo on May 1, 2013, and his treatments will likely last into 2014.

Please donate to help his family with medical treatment and costs. In addition, we are holding a golf tournament fundraiser which we would love everyone to participate in. Please see the above website for details.

Now please spread the word!! Thank you!
