If you have the privilege of knowing Chris, you know that she is the epitome of dedication to her craft. Her professional career as a dancer, choreographer and mentor has spanned well over 40 years. She has devoted countless hours coaching dancers and inspiring people to become the best they can possibly be! Chris, originally from Chicago, has been married to her husband Steve for 45 years. They have two children, Nicole and Scott, 3 grandchildren and one on the way. She has given so much love, passion, knowledge and inspiration to everyone she meets. Now, it's time for us to help her.
In December 2016 she was diagnosed with colon cancer.
Diagnosis:
After 2 emergency room visits and 6 days in Hoag Hospital during the month of October 2016 for what was thought to be diverticulitis, a very large tumor was found in the sigmoid section of her large intestine. Colorectal cancer was confirmed on Dec. 9, 2016.
Surgery:
During surgery on Dec. 21, 2016, the surgeon discovered that the tumor had penetrated all 4 walls of the large intestine, and had attached itself to the ileum section of the small intestine, thus requiring 2 colorectal resections. 8 inches of the large intestine were removed, as well as 4 inches of the small intestine. Both resections were successful, and no colostomy bag was required.

As of yesterday, May 16th 2017, we have received devastating news regarding her health from the oncologist at Hoag Hospital as follows:
"There is a lesion in the posterior right lobe of the liver, a lesion in the anterior liver, both of which are suspicious for metastatic disease. There is questionable mass or lymph in the area of the left psoas. There are 3 enlarged lymph nodes in the pelvic area that are suspicious for metastatic disease."

My name is Janell. I am 34 years old and I have been Chris’s student since I was 12 years old. I am the artist I am today because of Chris. I continue to train under her as do many dancers in Southern California-turning to her for career guidance, movement education, choreographic inspiration, and not to mention, friendship.
My name is Shawn. I am 34 years old. I have been her student since 2001. Chris has been a huge part of who I am today. She inspired me to follow my dance dreams and to work hard for what I want. I cannot imagine my life without her.
At this time, Chris needs to rest her body and focus on healing in a stress free environment.
As you know medical bills quickly accumulate and with this recent diagnosis upcoming treatment protocols will certainly be costly and as we all know insurance is not dependable.
