Chris Harmer’s battle with Brain Cancer

Donation protected
On Wednesday the 8th of January, Chris was sitting at home after finishing work when he suffered a medical episode. He was taken to hospital where the initial Diagnosis was a stroke, further tests however revealed a tumour on Chris’s Brain. Chris was flown to Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital, where he underwent brain surgery to remove the tumour. The following day an MRI revealed a second tumour so a second surgery was performed. Unfortunately, Chris has been diagnosed with Grade Four Glioblastoma and doctors have told Chris he has approximately 12 to 18 months to live, due to the aggressive nature of the tumour.
Chris is a loving husband and a wonderful, doting father to his three children. Chris’s diagnosis is such a cruel blow to a family who have already been through so much. Two of Chris’s children have Phelan McDermid Syndrome, a condition that now means they require full time respite care.
Chris is a professional truck driver. He will no longer be able to keep his driving licence, due to his diagnosis and will no longer be able to do the job he loves. He is a loyal and passionate employee with a heart of gold. Chris is one of the strongest people we know and we would like to help with the costs of Chris’s medical treatment and make this fight financially a bit easier for him and his family while they face this uncertain future.
