Anyone who knows Chris Gallagher understands what a devoted husband, father, brother, son and friend he is. For those of you that don’t know Chris, he and his wife Crystal are the loving, devoted parents to their three beautiful children- Declan, 15, Brady, 13 and Molly, 2. They are an amazing family with an unwavering faith in God, and are together facing a challenge that requires all our love and help...
Chris's only desire is to get medical treatment and return to his "normal" life. This is a simple yet complicated desire. One that is going to require time, faith and (unfortunately) money. Chris and Crystal ask for nothing and almost always decline assistance. This is why we are reaching out on their behalf.

Chris has been ill since mid-December and until recently, the doctors had been unable to determine what has caused his issues.
Since December, Chris has been in intense pain, and on bed rest. Fortunately, Chris has been seen by highly qualified specialists. However, he has also had to endure numerous tests and hospital stays because of the sheer complexity of his medical situation.
Initial CT Scans indicated that his adrenal glands had been bleeding and had increased in size (presently to the size of soccer balls). He is taking medication to replace the 2 hormones that his body is no longer producing. Through all of the testing he has endured, it was found that he has tumors in both of the adrenal glands and that he has ‘dark patches’ at the bottom of both lungs. From these findings, further testing was required.
In March, Chris got the difficult news that he indeed has Stage 4 cancer in his lungs, lymph nodes, and adrenal glands. The cancer diagnosis has been difficult on many levels for the family, especially having lost Chris’ dad in February 2016 to the same disease. What we had hoped would be some minimally-invasive surgeries has now turned into something more complicated, difficult, and expensive.
While the full plan and schedule of Chris’ treatment is still developing, we do know that he will be starting his treatments the week of April 2nd. Chris is a good candidate for immunotherapy as well, and we will find that out in the coming weeks. Currently, they are waiting for more results from two more tests from the biopsy to find out definitively. Immunotherapy is similar to chemotherapy in procedure, it is just a different drug.
In the meantime, we are humbly asking for your financial support as Chris and his family navigate the costly world of healthcare. These funds will be used to offset medical expenses, assist with keeping a normal daily life for the kids, and help with the costs of traveling 4 hours round-trip to Johns Hopkins on a regular basis.
As you are reading and considering lending your support to Chris and his family, I ask that you bear in mind this difficult road he is on and will be facing. He has not worked since his pain began in December. He has had the support of his union, but as you can well imagine, it is not enough.
There are many stressors that we cannot take away from Chris & Crystal at this time, but we can impact the financial burden they’re facing.
