Chris' Fund

There aren’t many people in this world I look up to more than my uncle, Chris Arsenault. Today, Chris lives just outside Calgary, in High River, Alberta. He works two jobs; one as a full-time Security Supervisor for Commissionaires of Northern Alberta and the other as a part-time Security Guard at the Telus Convention Centre in Calgary. Chris works hard to provide for his family; for his wife, Lillian, and for his two fur-babies, Bella and Zoe. Although he now resides in High River, Chris was born and raised in Charlottetown, P.E.I., and he is the youngest of 11 Arsenault siblings. During his youth, Chris was a multi-talented athlete, exceling in P.E.I.’s elite softball, hockey, and football leagues. Chris also spent 12 years working to help troubled teens at the Euston Street Group Home, where he was employed as a youth worker. For me personally, Uncle Chris has always been there to teach me life’s important lessons, to offer support in times of need, and to act as a role model, generally.

Now, at 54 years of age, Chris has been diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma and he is set to begin treatment on March 27, 2018. Chris’ treatment will take place at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary, and will consist of daily radiation treatment (Monday – Friday) for 33 days, supplemented by chemotherapy. This means extensive daily travel to and from the hospital; a round trip of almost 2.5 hours. Chris’ expected recovery time is 4-6 months after treatment ends. He has been off work since January 2018 and isn’t expected to be able to work again until October-December 2018. He will financially be going from having employment income coming in from two jobs, to being unable to work at all… for what could be up to an entire year.

Needless to say, this has caused a great deal of stress and hardship for Chris and his family. To me, it doesn’t seem right that someone fighting for their life should also have to fight to ensure their bills are paid. Chris is too proud to ask anybody for financial help, and I ain’t got any money to give him, so I’m writing today to ask for your help on his behalf.
