Chris & Sarah with accumulated medical bills

UPDATE August:
The second part of surgery a total colectomy with appendectomy was performed this month. Sarah needed repair of a parastomal hernia as well during this surgery. It was a rough few weeks after surgery this time and some mild complications, but she has overcome the difficulties and is managing much better now. She is also having to treat moderate liver disease that developed from the systemic toxin buildup due to the GI dysfunction. Sarah has unfortunately has to make a few visits to the hospital in between and has struggled a lot with dehydration and nutritional deficiencies since having the permanent ileostomy. Extra items, supplies, medications and nutritional replacements are the new normalcy along with frequent hospital and doctor visits…This has been a new added expense on top of the overwhelming financial burden she and her husband already have been facing. She still has not been able to go back to work as a nurse at the hospital yet in the midst of her ongoing recovery again and trying to learn her body’s new routine. Any gift given to them becomes a bigger blessing as them continue to live through this journey. We hope that their testimony help’s encourage someone knowing that they have not stopped loving the Lord and all that he has done for them in the midst of this traumatic event and how it has impacted so much of their lives. The gratitude and appreciation grows for each person that has blessed them and prayed over them through this season of healing ❤️
UPDATE March:
Over the past few months, Sarah has continued to stay sickly and has had less and less function in her GI system due to the nerve damage in her sacral spine(intestines ended up losing function). Two weeks ago she had no other option, but to get Ileostomy surgery performed. This has been a very challenging and major adjustment for Sarah and her husband as he helps her adjust to this new, permanent ileostomy bag. This will help her survive and is something that she is very thankful and optimistic that it will improve her quality of life. In the midst of this, she had to resign from her current position as a nurse so that she can focus on her own health and recovery over the next few months. Once again, the financial burden has continued to grow due to the cost of hospital stays, surgery and all of the monthly supplies that will now be a constant for them. Anything that can help them is a great blessing for them and extremely appreciated as they try to get ahead of this medical debt. Love and gratitude to everyone who has helped them and who continues to pray over them during this continuous, difficult season. ❤️
Hi Friends! I started this fundraiser for two of my very best friends who have become like family to me in Alabama. Sarah and I met being on the COVID nursing team at UAB and then her husband, Chris, immediately fell right into our little "framily".
There have been several people who have asked over the past few years what could be done to help them after their accident, and this is what they need most at this time.
Sarah and Chris are not ones to go out and ask for help, and they have continued to do the best they can since the accident. My heart hurts for them and all that they have gone through, but they still choose to stand proud in their faith and find joy even in the smallest amount of good news. They both love serving the Lord by trying to serve their patients with compassionate hearts and really love what they do. They have always tried to help others in what ever way they can and I hope that anyone who feels led to help them in this way, will do so. Prayers are always appreciated greatly.
The medical bills have accumulated related to their accident with doctor appointments, physical therapy, grief counseling, medications, procedures, surgeries, home health, medical equipment…it has become overwhelming for them. Their journey of healing is not anywhere near over, but they continue to share their testimony of how the Lord has shown Himself to them in the middle of the storm.
I made this page to share their story and to help give others encouragement of how God will never fail us in any season of life. For anyone who feels called to donate to them, there are not enough words to express my gratitude and appreciation of any blessing that is given.
We pray that you are blessed abundantly in your own lives and know how much you are loved by our Heavenly Father. Thank you from the bottom of all of our hearts.
