This is Chris.
A joker, a caring friend, devoted husband, loving father to two beautiful girls and an exceptional registered nurse for over 20 years.
On February 27th 2018 while at work, Chris became a victim of assault and battery which left him with facial fractures and dental trauma, both of which will require extensive reconstructive surgery and a lengthy recovery.
As a fellow RN, it still scares me that violence against Canadian healthcare workers, like Chris, is at epidemic levels. Look at these numbers.
More than 770 frontline nurses and personal support workers in Ontario were asked about workplace violence:68%
experienced at least one incident of violence20%
experienced 9 or more incidents of violence 83%
experienced at least one incident of non-physical violence75%
have witnessed at least one incident of violence against a co-worker26%
lost time at work due to violence on the jobThis is ridiculous.
It breaks my heart to see good people like Chris, who do nothing but good in life and put those who need help the most first, get shit on and treated like this. Violence against healthcare workers is not ok.
Let us show that we are listening and help show our care and support to Chris, the same care and support that he's selflessly and tirelessly given every day to his patients and to all those he loves. Please, lets donate to help Chris and his family through his difficult and lengthy recovery.
100% of the funds from this campaign goes to Chris and his family. The financial and emotional support
to help cover medical expenses, lost time at work, and rehabilitation from this tragic event.
