Chris needs mobility equipment

Early Wednesday morning Chris Gillespie, my wife and best friend of 20+ years, had a stroke. I was about to leave for work and luckily heard her weakly crying for me upstairs. I found her standing in the bathroom but unable to move from that position, and when I saw her face drooped on one side and her unable to move her right arm or leg I knew she'd probably had a stroke. I'm pretty sure we called 911 nearly right away, she's now recalling that she felt really weird just before this. She is very weak and has no use of her right side at the moment. She is alert, and has suffered no cognitive damage that we can tell, her speech is weak but very improved. We're at UIC Medical Center. The staff here are amazing and she is getting excellent care. This hospital has a world class neuro department, and she couldn't be in a better place for stroke or her chronic neurological disease Myasthenia Gravis. She is expected to recover some or hopefully all function, with rehab and medication - and a lot of hard work. When she completes her rehab she will have more challenges. Our small house is on 3 floors with the only bathroom on the second floor. It's too small for a wheelchair. She may need a stair lift. I'm not sure what else she will need but I know there will be more. Goal is to have a stair lift installed and enlarge the bathroom to allow for ease of use by people who have mobility issues. We are uninsured due to my recent job change and while we are working with social workers trying to get some assistance with the already impossible medical bills, I'm not sure we'll get any once she is able to come home. Help her out by contributing what you can so that she can recover at home.
