Chris Johnson's memorial and funeral

My name is Kimberly Weir, and this fundraiser is for my brother Christopher Johnson.

Chris passed away April 5th, at home

Born and raised in Bridesburg, Chris was a graduate of St. John Cantius class of 1982, also a proud Falcon as he graduated from North Catholic, class of 1987.

Many people knew my brother as Chris or as CJ. Chris began his working career at Lachowicz’s on Thompson St. as a bagger. From there he went to tech school and worked for Elmer Schultz. He then moved on and started working as a lineman for Verizon. I feel like that was his favorite job, but it didn’t last. He began work for Franklin Machine Products. And his last place of employment was working for Pierce Phelps at the service desk.

While Chris was working, in August of 2020, he suffered a seizure, and that led to his diagnosis of Stage IV lung cancer, which had spread to his brain, and adrenal glands. Chris began chemotherapy, and eventually immunotherapy as well. It seemed to be keeping cancer at bay.

Most recently as in March of this year, Chris was hospitalized a couple of times, and through extensive testing, it was found that his cancer is continuing to spread.
Chris has decided to stop all treatment and was on hospice care.

Chris does not have life insurance, so we, as his family, are trying to prepare for the inevitable to come, which will be his funeral. The purpose of this Gofundme is to try to offset the costs of care, and funeral expenses.

We are hoping whoever reads this may remember Chris as the funny, straightforward, red headed kid we all know and love.

Chris is survived by his father, James Johnson, and stepmother Janet Johnson; his son Zachary Stevens, his sister Kimberly Johnson Weir, her husband Arthur, and niece and nephews, Megan, Ryan, and Devin. Chris is survived by his fiancé, his true soulmate, Janet Amon Gallagher. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins, here in Philadelphia, and in Quincy Michigan. Chris was preceded in death by his mother Kathleen Johnson in 1988, and his grandmother Alfreda Dempsey in 1996.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated and truly valued.
