On March10th Chris Crampton was involved in an accident in the 123 Trophy Truck at the Mint 400 and suffered a severe back injury. The entire medical crew at Best in the Desert along with Tim Wuerfel did an amazing job in stabilizing Chris, removing him from the race truck and getting him life flighted out of the desert and to UMC in Las Vegas where they took all the right measures to make Chris comfortable and stable.
On Tuesday night following the accident, Kristen his wife along with help from the Herbst Family who had an incredible contact with a top Spine Surgeon Dr. Green in Miami worked tirelessly to get Chris transferred to UCI Medical Center to get the surgery and specific care he needed.
On Wednesday March 13th, he under went surgery to repair his L1 and relive the pressure from his spinal cord which was a success.
Over the last week since his surgery Chris has made some great strides forward in his recovery but has not yet started his rehab process so he can attempt to get fuel movement. This process, fingers crossed, should start this week.
Chris is in great spirits, he has been alert every step of the way since the accident and is more than ready to get going on the rehab and start the long road to recovery.
This entire process is not a cheap one and although Chris and Kristen have Insurance, there are going to be quite a few cost associated with deductibles, items insurance is not going to cover with rehab, additional help, and all the unexpected costs associated with this accident that they might not see for the months to come.
So many of the off-road community have asked about helping in some way and we feel this is the best way to do it and show our support for our friend and someone who has made his life in the sport of off-road racing. We ask if you can help and if it is not possible to help with a donation, we completely understand and thank you, but if you can share this and spread the word that would be amazing so we can take the financial stress off of Chris and Kristen so they can concentrate solely on a full recovery.
