<div>Renal Medullary Carcinoma [RMC] is a rare and aggressive cancer that ultimately attacks the kidney, and is associated with Sickle Cell Trait [SCT]. SCT is an inherited blood disorder leading to the production of sickle-shaped red blood cells. Approximately 7-10% of the African-American population has SCT, and it is also present in people from Latin America, Asia and the Mediterranean. However - despite testing becoming more routine - many adults do not know their status, as SCT does not always cause symptoms.
