Chris Brady Cancer Fund

Many of you know my older brother Chris as a wild and carefree spirit, full of adventure and life.
We are very saddened to say that he has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer and given only 6-10 months left to live.
He has stage IV Esophagus Cancer. (Esophageal Adenocarcinoma) He has a metastatic cancer that has spread to his liver and cannot be cured with surgery, nor are there any standard curative therapies for treatment. The predominant symptom of esophageal cancer is dysphagia, which simply means painful difficulty in swallowing food and liquids.
Treatment is used mainly to help keep the cancer under control for as long as possible and to relieve any symptoms it is causing. Chris has chosen not to have full Chemotherapy, but has decided, if needed, to receive Radiation Therapy pointed directly at his Esophageal tumor; hoping that by reducing it as much as possible, will prevent it from growing so much that it blocks his esophagus completely. He wants to ensure that he will be able to eat and drink on his own until, what will most likely be liver failure.

Chris is an actor and has worked in some movies and short films. He cannot continue working, given this dreadful news, so he is currently unemployed, living with our sister Joanna in DC. He has no health insurance, but fortunately, because he is a veteran, he is currently receiving pain management treatment from the Veterans Hospital in DC.

Our family is asking for financial donations for my brother to live out the remaining 6 to 10 months of his life comfortably, to pay off bills , to be able to pay for plane tickets, transportation, food and lodging as he makes his way to go visit our parents in Honduras and in Nevada and to travel to spend time with his closest friends and family overseas before he gets too sick. When that time does come, he will check himself into the VA Hospice Care in DC. He will donate the remaining balance of this Go Fund Me account to the Washington DC Veterans Medical Center, where he is receiving all his care.

He has already begun to put his affairs in order and simplify his life by deleting all social media and most memberships. He would, however, appreciate an email of love and encouragement at [email redacted]

Please keep Chris and our family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through this difficult time.
I will post periodic health updates as they change. Thank you so much for your support.

"Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come.
'tis grace that brought me safe thus far,
and grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
as long as life endures.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now... I see"
