Chris and Dianne Vermeeren Fire

Donation protected
ON July 13'th, Chris and Dianne Vermeeren (Cindy Skanderup's parents) were inside their mobile home in Lomond, AB ( about 1 3/4  hours south east of Calgary) when a propane tank exploded on the deck of their home.  Within mere seconds, the entire deck and kitchen were engulfed in flames.  Dianne managed to escape through the flames via the front door on the deck, and Chris escaped his bedroom at the rear of the home through the rear side exit.  Everything inside the home was destroyed in minutes, and of their three little chihuahua friends, only one was saved-the one mom happened to be carrying at the time as one little boy puppy was in the living room, and another little boy puppy leapt out of Dianne's arms and ran back into the fire.  Mom and Dad literally escaped with nothing but what they were wearing-no ID, no money, no prescriptions... Due to their already dire financial situation,  there is no renters insurance or saved money for them to fall back on to replace their necessities. Chris is in very poor health, and cannot work.  Dianne struggles with her own health issues, and works when she can, when she is not caring for Chris full time.   They are in extreme need of cash to replace clothes, wheelchair/mobility aids for Chris, toiletries, and will need to eventually seek out a new home.  They are currently living with Chris and Cindy Skanderup and their grandchildren, in Okotoks, AB.
