Chris & Christopher Adopt a Baby

Donation protected
As I watched Christopher and Chris exchange their wedding vows, I realized the depth and magnitude of their love for one another. I was, and am, thrilled for my brother, Christopher, and my now brother-in-law, Chris, as they add a new chapter to their life together. That is why I was compelled to start this fundraising campaign for them. I know how full of love and support Christopher and Chris’s lives are, and I wanted to create a space for people to support their journey to adoption, no matter how “small” the contribution. Thank you all for helping my brothers’ dream of becoming amazing parents come true!

A Message from C+C:

For both of us, growing up primarily in the midwest, we would look around and see the white picket fences and seemingly perfect families and wonder, “Is that something I can have?” Answering that question in the affirmative was challenging — not because we didn’t want that life, but because our dreams of love, marriage, and family didn’t match what we saw.

When we met, the connection was immediate, and the rate at which our love grew was powerful. From the onset, we could imagine life as a married couple. We knew that dream was more than just a fantasy, not just because marriage equality became law two weeks into our relationship, but because we could see a clear vision of our future together.

“Do you want kids?”

Within our first month of dating Chris was the one to ask the question. Not wanting kids was a deal breaker for both of us, so it made sense to find out sooner rather than later. Luckily, we both said yes, and the conversation took the natural segue into the question of how many. In a moment plucked straight out of a cheesy, family-friendly sitcom, we did a countdown to share our answers at the same time. Three... two... one...

“One, maybe two.” “SEVENTEEN.”

Want to know who gave which answer? We’ll let you try to figure it out. Whether it is one, two, or seventeen, we are excited for what comes next. We want a family. We want you to see us as fathers. We want to nurture, and bring joy, and feel the misery, and experience the love of parenting. Christopher is excited to watch Chris and our children have dance battles in the family room. Chris is excited to watch Christopher teach our children everything about Power Rangers, and maybe one day, he will let them be the red ranger.

The total cost of an agency-facilitated domestic infant adoption ranges from $40,000 to $50,000. We have saved up more than 60% of the total cost, but we need help going to rest of the way so we can start our family. We have started the process and hope to be available to match with a birth mother beginning in May.

Love and marriage are very real for us now, and your support in starting our family would mean more than words can express.
