My Father's Liver Cirrhosis

Donation protected
We never thought we would ever be “those” people who have to post on social media about our financial situation – but, if we want to continue to survive (literally), we have to lose that pride and be honest with our friends and family. This is tough, indeed.

Choukoua Xiong, a loving father of 11 (7 daughters and 4 sons) and grandfather of over 20. The greatest husband to my mother, Mor Thao, of almost 50 years. He was always hard working just to make sure his family was well taken care of. His parents left him at such a young age and he was the 3rd of the 6 sons and 2 girls. He joined the army at the age of 15. Fought in the Vietnam war, lost an eye and so many family members . He fought for his family's freedom. Only 65 years old.

For those of you who do not know what brings us here, today... ChouKoua Xiong, our father, has been diagnosed and suffering from a very well-known disease known as LIVER CIRRHOSIS, also called Hepatic (Liver) Disease. This means that he has scarring in his liver and he can die. Started as he was a carrier of the Hep B virus. Liver Cirrhosis, which is the formation of fibrous tissue in the place of liver cells that have died due to a variety of causes, including viral hepatitis, alcohol overconsumption, and other forms of liver toxicity. Cirrhosis causes chronic liver failure. There's scarring on his liver now causing Ascites (fluid build-up in the abdomen) as well. Everything he ate or drank, gave him pain. According to the doctors he's pretty close to the end-stage phase of this disease.

This is the most scary and depressing thought any child could have and to see their loving father/mother go through. The thought of losing one parent is ever so devastating.

We, all the children, are working very hard at taking care of him...such as making sure his meds are taken, taking him to his Dr's appointments, etc. But we can only do so much. We've all pitched in to help pay for his treatments but have drained out from it as well. As he could only take so much pain.

With help from a family friend, we have found a treatment center located in Minnesota for him. This place is called "BETWEEN THE BRIDGES HEALING CENTER", located in Mankato, MN (http://www.bridgeshealingcenters.com). Even though  this place is far away from his home, Madison, Wis., we decided this his our best shot and our last resort. This healing center doesn't take any kind of insurance due to practice of "alternative medicine". This type of treatment "should" help his liver re-grow and function normal again and prolong his life. With this treatment, we will have to pay (out of our own pockets) for his hotel stay, pay for a minute over the phone with a nurse, pay for everything that has to do with his treaments, supplements, etc. We figured this is alot, yes, BUT we only have one father, one life time. We will go out of our way to help him fight this disease despite the costs.

Today, we reach out to our friends and family asking to help raise our goal of $10,000. This will include his hotel stays, meals, and treatment. He had traveled far from home and needs your support. By supporting him, you’re supporting me and the rest of my family through this heart wrenching time. Please donate if possible and keep him in your prayers.

Thank you in advance and may GOD bless you all!
