Story:

A brave mother from , Ethiopia recently came to Canada with her two young children—both under 5—brought here by her abusive husband.

She thought she was coming to a safer life, but the abuse followed her. Now, she has found the courage to leave and is currently staying with a kind friend, trying to keep her children safe while figuring out what to do next.

She’s new to Canada, with no family, no income, and no legal status yet. She’s scared and trying to avoid the shelter system for her children’s well-being. She’s also afraid to reveal her identity because her husband is still in the country, and she fears for her life and her kids.

• Find safe, long-term housing

• Provide food, clothing, and basic needs for her kids

• Access legal help and support services quietly and safely
