10th of Menachem Av, 5777

Dear Friends,

The excitement and profound interest in our latest Mikvah project is almost overwhelming!

We are happy to inform you that we have started the next phase of Preserving and Restoring the Rebbe’s Mikvah. The enormity of this project is beyond what we have dreamed.  And so we are turning to everyone to partner with us to get this done.

We do appreciate all the support that we have received from the community for the more than 35 years of maintaining the Rebbe’s Mikvah, and the confidence that you all have had in us in keeping this mosad of the Rebbe smoothly running along.

The Mikvah is the foundation of every Jewish Community.  We are honored that the Rebbe used this Mikvah, and therefore it is precious to our community and also treasured by the global Chabad-Lubavitch community. We have always followed the Rebbe’s directive that the Mikvah be beautiful both inside and out.

Here is an excerpt from a letter that the Rebbe wrote on the 13th of Teveth, 5717:

"I was gratified to read that the Mikvah is nearing completion and that it is most beautiful externally as well as in Kashruth. I trust that every effort will be made to see to it that the Mikvah attracts ever growing numbers of women, which after all is the end purpose of it. I trust that you and your friends will do your utmost in this direction, too."

We heeded to the Rebbe’s call when he publicly proclaimed in Shul, in 770, that the Mikvah was falling into disrepair and it should repaired and beautified. Should the funds not be available it would be proper to even sell 770 so that the funds would then be accessible.

We would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support all these years.  However, we must now appeal to the global Chabad community to assist in the restoration of this Holy Mikvah.  The cost of proper restoration, preserving the historical fibers of the original Mikvah that the Rebbe himself used is significant and exceeds the cost of new construction.  The Mikvah needs to be put on a solid foundation, fixed and repaired from the underside and outside without touching the inside.  Our goal is to preserve, with Hashem’s help, every aspect of the original Mikvah at any cost!  We are sure that so many caring individuals would like to help us out.

So once again, we thank you for your tremendous care and concern.  Join with us and make this dream a reality. Let us keep the Rebbe’s MIkvah for our daughters, granddaughters, and all future generations of Jewish mothers. It’s in your hands now.

With all best wishes,

Rosalynn Malamud, Nechama Hackner, Seema Goldstein and Cyrel Deitsch
