Chloe is our beautiful, talented 16 year-old daughter. When she entered puberty she began to suffer from depression and a serious eating disorder. We are trying to save our daughter's life and need your help!
In April of this year our precious child attempted to take her own life. She was careful and planned it well, and, if not for her brother's intervention, she would not be with us today. We have tried to get her help here at home and in hospital settings. She is still suffering from major depression and a co-occurrence of an eating disorder and anxiety. We tried to bring her home after 50 days of in-patient treatment but she quickly relapsed and remains too emotionally fragile at this time to continue the work at home.
Her doctors, therapists and counseling team are all recommending a therapeutic boarding school for her continued care. We want Chloe to get the help and healing she so desperately needs. As her parents, nothing is more important than Chloe being able to thrive in the future and be happy, so we are agreeing to the additional 9 months of care recommended.
Sadly, our insurance does not cover any portion of this care, which is $10,500 per month at the school that seems to be the best fit for our daughter. Our insurance will only cover total hospitalization in a psychiatric facility. These facilities have little success with eating disorder treatment or suicide prevention (I will say now we need a better healthcare system stat!) and I want my daughter to live. We are lucky and have been able to pay for her first 4 months of care but we need help to ensure that Chloe succeeds. Asking for help is incredibly hard but my daughter is worth it. Anything at all helps, including prayer and good wishes.
