Chloe needs surgery on her broken leg
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lisa Pederson, and I am fundraising to help my daughter Nicole and her brand new family. On September 30th, my daughter, her husband Ryan and their 3-week-old child drove to the local town to see some visiting family. While they were gone tragedy struck, as their 5-year-old dog Chloe was hit by a vehicle in front of the gate of their rural Saskatchewan acreage.
The impact was so severe that Chloe suffered a significant fracture on the upper portion of her front left leg among other less severe injuries. The driver that hit Chloe left behind chunks of black plastic from their vehicle in front of the acreage’s front gate. We are unsure why the vehicle was driving so close to the front gate of the property, or how fast they were going to cause such damage to both Chloe and their vehicle. But we can tell from the debris they left behind that they did not stop to check on Chloe, but instead chose to leave her to die in the ditch.
Upon the family’s return to the acreage, they found Chloe laying in the ditch next to the front gate in the pouring rain and immediately rushed her to the vet in Melfort. We are thankful they were able to see her on such short notice. Unfortunately, due to the severity and location of the fracture the closest surgeon able to fix Chloe’s leg is in Saskatoon. The quote for the orthopedic surgery alone is $7,000.
Chloe is a member of the family and has been with Nicole and Ryan through so much these past 5 years. Chloe, Nicole and Ryan travelled across Saskatchewan together as Nicole worked at countless rural hospitals. Chloe helped Nicole deal with the stresses of working in healthcare throughout the pandemic and was on every road trip that Nicole and Ryan took.
Nicole is too proud to come out and ask for help, but there is a time where we all need some help. There is never a good time for a tragic event to happen. But the timing could not have been much worse. With a three week old child at home, both parents are currently on leave and dealing with the financial burden of a reduced income and the increased expenses that having a child brings. Coupled with the emotional stress of Chloe being injured by such a careless individual. It made an already stressful situation significantly worse.
Chloe still has so much love to give and life to live. She deserves the quality of life that this operation would give both her and her young family. Any donations would be incredibly appreciated to help this young family through this horrible event and to give this wonderful pup the treatment she deserves.
Thank you,
Lisa Pederson
