Clean Water for Uganda by Chloe K

Donation protected
My name is Chloe Krueger.  I am 12 years old and in 7th grade at Graland Country Day School in Denver, Colorado.  When I started this raising money for water purification systems for kids in Uganda, I was in 6th Grade and was 11 years old.  So far we have purchased five water purification systems and we are about to purchase five more. I visited the first five schools that now have clean water and the kids and teachers were so happy, it was great.  The kids in Uganda are just like kids here, but they don't have anything really - they don't get lunch at school and they go to school from 7am to 5pm, they have very little toys and clothes and not all of them can even go to school because it costs $3/trimester to go to government school and not all families can send their kids.  The schools are not like our schools at all.   There is no electricity is most of the schools and they don't really  have running water.  They get their water from borehole wells  that aren't purified or from other water sources like streams.  The kids are very poor, but they are very happy to have clean water.  We also gave one school soccer balls and school supplies and they were very happy.  My story of starting this is below.  My school and soccer friends that are part of the team are awesome ...and we think everyone deserves clean water, especially kids.

MY STORY:  HOW I GOT STARTED RAISING MONEY TO BUY WATER PURIFICATION SYSTEMS (written in March of 2018)
I am visiting Uganda in June  of 2018 to see how micro-finance there works and to see some cool animals too!   As part of my trip to Uganda, I want to help Ugandan kids like me. So I first talked to my school about having all 5th and 6th graders donate their school supplies at the end of the school year - and I will take those to Uganda to the Bright Light Comprehensive Primary School in Soroti, Uganda.  Once I started raising school supplies, I wanted to help in other ways too.  Basically, I wanted to do something that would CHANGE THE WORLD.

To change the world for millions of kids like me in rural Uganda, I need to think "clean water", "borehole wells"  and "water purification systems."  So I reached out to many water bottle companies and so far have received donations of 4,000 water bottles - Thank you ELDORADO SPRINGS WATER (https://www.eldoradosprings.com/)
and NESTLE WATER (https://www.nestlepurelife.com/us/en)!   Instead of giving 4,000 water bottles away to Ugandans who deserve them,  I knew there had to be a way to do something that could be better.  That's when I met IMPACT WATER, a 501c3 and realized I can buy a water purification system for about $1000 USD.  So, I decided  we can give away these 4,000 water bottles to people in exchange for cash donations.  You'll find us downtown at Rockies Games and in Cherry Creek and any other great locations we find until we have given away 4,000 water bottles for donations.

If we just gave the 4,000 water bottles to kids in Uganda, that would help them for maybe one or two days of their entire lives!  If we turn these 4,000 water bottles into water purification systems and borehole wells, we will be able to give these kids clean water every single day of their lives.  That will change their worlds.

Many people want to give money BUT they can't come to Denver to donate for a water bottle ... so I've created this "gofundme" page forpeople that want to help buy water purification systems for borehole wells in rural Uganda, and in some areas, dig the borehole well too!!!

So many kids don't go to school because they spend most of their time walking 6 miles a day to get clean water.  It's true.  Read "A Long Walk to Water" by Linda Sue Park (a fantastic author) - you will not be disappointed!  When the kids are not missing school while walking to water, they are getting sick from worms in their dirty water they collect from filthy borehole wells or water streams shared with cows and pigs.  Girls suffer the most - the burden falls on girls to get water.  As a girl,  I find this  makes me angry.

We ARE CHANGING THE WORLD PEOPLE.  You can CHANGE THE WORLD WITH US.  Let's change the world for these  kids living in rural Uganda that are just as great as we are.  We are no better, we just have access to clean water and they don't. They live in a country that can't provide water to their homes like we have in the US.

For each of the 4,000 water bottles that were donated to us, if we average a $10 donation, we will collect $40,000.00 and be able to provide 40 water purification systems for 40 borehole wells..  Trust me, borehole wells get pretty disgusting un-purified.  I can send pictures!

I would love your help.  My friends  would love your help!  The kids in Uganda who are just like us would LOVE your help too!

I'm taking school supplies and deflated soccer balls to Uganda with me  too.  I mean, soccer balls certainly take your mind off unclean water until you get purified water, right? If you want to send a check, deflated soccer balls or school supplies, email me and I will tell you where you can send them!

Thank you for considering making a donation!!!

CHLOE KRUEGER

The next four pictures are real.   Kids in Uganda drink this water every single day UNTIL SOMEONE LIKE "US" COMES ALONG and help them get a water purification system so they can have clean water.   LET'S CHANGE THIS PEOPLE!!

These girls should be in school, but they are WALKING TO GET WATER FOR THEIR FAMILIES .... and it probably will be dirty water in the pictures above.  They should get to be in school all day, like me.

Look how happy clean water can make kids!

One of the schools in Uganda - these kids deserve clean water everyday at school, and to take home from school!!!

This is the type of water that I drink every day in Denver, Colorado.  I am so lucky.

This is the type of water Ugandan kids drink every day without water purification systems.  They are not lucky.

How cute is this boy with his soccer ball!!  He deserves clean water!  I love clean water and soccer.

Impact Water!!

These are the kids at The Bright Light Primary School in Soroti, Uganda!  They are excited to get their water purification system soon  - from US very soon!!

Thanks for looking!
