The Future, Chlo & Co Dance

Donation protected
Recently, as we gathered and weighed what we have accomplished, Chloë and I discussed what our goals are for the future, as Chlo & Co Dance.

We want to grow the Drove and pursue fiscal sponsorship by 2019.

In order to take these steps, we need your support.

We are currently working on our newest project, Basic, which will premiere at the Joe Goode Annex on May 11&12 as part of Drove IV

The Drove is a twice-annual evening curated by Chloë and myself. We invite artists from the Bay Area to create work in response to prompts that we curate to address an overarching theme for the evening. We aim to create a diverse community of emerging and early-professional artists, and provide them a venue and visibility for their work without the need to self-produce.

For Drove IV, Chloë and I decided that we would underwrite the cost of renting a venue and producing on a scale larger than Droves I-III. We are asking for support to help cover the costs of:

- Rental and Production
- Artist Fees
- Marketing Supplies

Monetary support in these areas will help ensure the possibility of Drove V and the goal of becoming fiscally sponsored

Any support that you offer is greatly appreciated. We hope that we will continue to grow and learn from the Bay Area community which has offered us so much already. Please feel welcome to send us an email if you have specific questions.

With gratitude,
Courtney King, Co-Artistic Direcor of Chlo & Co Dance

MISSION
Chlo & Co Dance was founded in 2015 by Courtney King and Chloë Zimberg. The company works to generate aesthetically dynamic choreography that is both physically rigorous and intricate. It regularly generates and performs new choreography. The impetus to create is spurred by recognizing, setting and breaking limitations. At the core of Chlo & Co Dance is active communication, which is practiced in both process and performance.

Chlo & Co Dance engages and supports the ever-growing community of emerging and early professional artists by producing a biannual event, the Drove. The Drove invites Bay Area artists to share the stage with Chlo & Co Dance, make a new work in response to a curated prompt, and present work in a fully produced show.

In pursuit of their mission, King and Zimberg believe that honesty and clear intention are integral to success and growth. Chlo & Co Dance strives to manifest these beliefs in each project they pursue.

ABOUT
Courtney King and Chloë Zimberg met in 2012 and have been dancing and making work ever since. They started performing together in pieces by Scott Wells, Eli Nelson, detour dance, Fog Beast and Rachael Lincoln through the University of San Francisco Performing Art's and Social Justice performance program. In 2014 they made their first dance film while living abroad in Paris and Bologna. Since then, they have continued to make dance films as well as live works performed in the city and on the West Coast at SAFEhouse Arts, The Contemporary Jewish Museum, the LEVYDance Salon, and with Doré Dance Company. Chlo & Co Dance produces the Drove, which takes place twice a year and brings together Bay Area artists for an evening of curated work. Courtney and Chloë strive to create work that is aesthetically dynamic, physical, and that continues to respond to new questions and challenges.
