Jamie Matthews Memorial Fund

I want to give my deepest thanks to all Jamie's friends and colleagues for their support both through his illness and since his death on July 27.  A few days ago, Kelly Lappe, the hospital administrator where Jamie worked, contacted me asking for some way she and Jamie's co-workers could be of assistance.  She suggested GoFundMe.  I shied away at first, but then thought  that we did want to create a memorial celebration this fall that truly reflects Jamie's joy and spirit.  It is also true that for myself and my family their may be some immediate shortfalls in our budget.  Therefore, the money raised through this site will be used for the following:

1.  To help fund the Memorial Celebration of the life of Jamie Matthews to be held late September or early October (exact date to be announced).  It is my hope to make this event full of the things that meant the most to Jamie:  good music, great food and of course all his friends and loved ones.
 
2.  To help offset the costs of travel for family members wishing to attend the funeral or the memorial.

3.  To cover any shortfall in household expenses in the immediate future.

4.  Any remaining funds will be donated to charities close to Jamie's heart.
