Harvey Flooded Chiropractor
On August 26 - 28 the Houston area was hit with 9 trillion gallons of water. In comparison to Hurricane Katrina, it would cover New Orleans with 128 ft of water. News reporters say waters got higher than the 500 year floodplain. And my town of Friendswood got 49.32 in. of rain in 3 days!
I am a Chiropractor and my office, in Friendswood TX, was directy effected by the flood waters. However, since we never imagined getting this much water, I did not have flood insurance. I lost everything from office furniture, office supplies, equipment, tables, a decompression table, 4 computers, air compression boots, and most importantly patients who were also effected by the hurricane and flood waters. I also have 5 employees who have become my second family. One of whom got water in her home as well. Another is a single mother of 2 young children. These people rely on their income from me to live. It's killing me to know that I will struggle to provide for them when they do so much for me and our patients. There is no flood insurance to collect from, FEMA does not assist small business, they point me to SBA, who offer loans, but thats the absolute last thing I need.
Now, everything I have worked for over the last 7 years in practice and 8 years of college and Chiropractic school has come to a screaching hault. I dont know how long it will take to make repairs to the office and get everything back up and running again. But, until we're running full steam ahead, it will be a struggle.
I am asking for funds to help replenish what was lost in the flood waters and help pay staff until we get back on our feet. The funds are needed asap. Any support through this devistation would be greatly appreciated as everyone in the area is going to struggle for a long time to come.
I love helping others, which is why I got into this profession. However, I dont ever ask for help for myself. I always like to do things on my own. This time is different. I am the sole provider for my pregnant wife and 2 kids as well as my work family of 5. I sincerly appreciate any help.
