Chip Holding Cat Needs Your Help

On Tuesday afternoon, Oliver was rushed to the ER after showing signs of having a urinary tract blockage which can be fatal if left untreated. We were assured that the procedure of removing the blockage would be relatively simple and effective. Almost $2,000 later we left the hospital and waited for the call to say that he was finished and in recovery. The actual call that we received informed us that, though the blockage was cleared, his bladder had been torn during the procedure and fluid was leaking into his abdomen. We again were assured that as serious as this sounded, his body could potentially heal itself while staying connected to a catheter for at least 7 days with 24 hour care.
Around 1:00 a.m. Wednesday morning we got yet another disappointing call to inform us that the fluid build up was much more serious and he would need a drainage tube inserted into his belly to keep urine from collecting in his abdomen.
At this point, the tear in his bladder is too large to heal on its own and he will need surgery to put his bladder wall back together.
For those who don't know, I got Oliver in 2012 on a whim and he hasn't left my side since. He's stuck with me through many moves, heartaches, and life changes that I wouldn't have been able to get through without his companionship. He's my son in every sense of the word.
When we brought him in, my partner and I were forced to essentially drain our bank accounts just to have the initial procedure started and therefore are faced with the harsh reality that we can't afford to do this all on our own. The surgery costs are required upfront before they'll proceed and they are extremely high.
The most loyal, intelligent and loving cat I've ever known who has charmed not only everyone he's met but also those he hasn't (when held a tortilla chip that one time) is hurting. Please help us get him the surgery he needs to be able to come back home to us. We will be forever grateful.
