Thank you to friends, family, strangers, and the community at large for all your support and help during this hard week with my family and I. The love that everyone has shown us, the care in our search for our father, and the messages we have received have allowed us to get through this. I have connected with old friends and made new friends in these last few days.

Unfortunately, my dad was found to have passed away on Saturday May 14, 2022. It was a quick and painless passing, and he was able to end the suffering he endured in the past year. As a devout Christian, he always turned to God for comfort. His desk at work was filled with strong passages of overcoming adversity. He volunteered weekly at church, and always prayed for others. God has undoubtedly gained an Angel and he will watch over us each and every day.

My dad was born on September 16, 1964. The year of the Dragon, same year as my mom. My dad was surely a dragon. Tough as nails, taught to never show weakness. He always knew what he wanted and made sure he got it done.

My dad was a loving father and an even more loving husband to my mom. He always made sure we had what we needed throughout our lives. He made me who I am today. We did not have the best relationship growing up, as is the case with many Asian American families growing up in different cultures (taiwan vs USA), however the last few years we really came together and knew that we loved and cared deeply for one another.

My dad was a loving father, son, brother, cousin, friend, and now soon-to-be grandfather. Looking back, he was everything I could have asked for and more. The proudest I have ever seen my dad was when we told he would be a grandfather. My biggest achievement was that he was able to see pictures of the ultrasound and watch a video of the heartbeat. My dad would have been the best grandfather.

He suffered greatly in the past year but always persevered. He never showed weakness even in the end and would always tell us he was feeling great with a smile on his face.

My dad met my mom in Taiwan at the age of 18, married in Taiwan at the age of 25, then immigrated to America 2 months later. He attended Syracuse University for a Master's degree in Computer Engineering. My dad has only told me two things about his life before me, and one was that he didn't know any English when he started at Syracuse and he wanted to quit every day. However, he obviously persevered, excelled despite all odds, and became a Computer Engineer at tech companies like Intel and many others, where he helped build one of the first Intel computer chips.

When my dad had enough of tech and was between jobs, he worked night shift for 3 weeks as a TSA agent in SFO just so we would still have insurance while he transitioned careers. He ultimately became an Appraiser, and has worked at the County of Santa Clara for almost 20 years.

My dad was 6 foot tall and I hated that I could never be that height. I literally and figuratively looked up to him my entire life. My dad always brought humor into the lives of those around him. He loved kids and taught the little kids at Sunday School for many years.

My dad loved me for who I was, even if I did not fit the social norms as expected of someone in the Taiwanese culture from his generation. He accepted me despite all my flaws, and in fact he proudly showed me off to his friends and of my accomplishments.

Everything I have achieved in life, I attribute to my father for guiding me and pushing me to the man I have become today. My mom and I will continue to live every day in honor of my dad, knowing that he is always with us and proud of us.

Once again, to all who have read up to this point, thank you for your love, support, care this past week. My entire family and I thank you from the bottom of our heart.

The proceeds from this fund will be used soley to pay for my father's funeral expenses. 100% of excess funds after will be donated to both a Missing Person's organization as well as a Mental Health Support organization.
