China Service Trip

Hello friends, family, and colleagues.
Thank you for taking the time to come and check out my page. As you may or may not be aware, I am currently pursuing my passion to help people by studying to become of Doctor of Chiropractic at Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, CA. I’m currently in my second year of school here, and I have been granted the amazing opportunity to travel to China with a group of fellow Chiropractic students and Doctors of Chiropractic in order to help introduce Chiropractic to the Chinese people. The goal of our trip is to bridge the gap between Eastern and Western holistic healthcare by working with a Chinese hospital to provide free Chiropractic care to those in need. It is my hope that this trip will serve as a catalyst to spark a worldwide revolution in how we view health and wellbeing.
At the request of the Chinese government, we have been invited to partner with a Traditional Chinese Medicine hospital in Jinzhou, China. While there we will be working alongside Chinese medical doctors to co-manage patients and provide the best possible outcomes. This is such an incredible opportunity for me to be able to see many patients, get imaging and test results back extremely quickly, and consult and learn from specialists where appropriate. The trip will last 7 days, and comprise the entirety of my break between quarters. I will leave as soon as I am done with finals, and return just in time to make it to class for my first day of the following quarter. I can’t properly express how excited I am to not only be able to help a great many people in China, but also to grow and learn as much as possible from my experience there so that I can continue to help as many people as I can throughout my life.
Why Chiropractic? Chiropractic is the science, art, and philosophy of detecting and removing vertebral subluxations. Subluxations are misalignments of the spinal bones (vertebra) that create greater tension in the spinal cord and affect the communication between the brain and the body. The effects of adversely modifying the communication between the brain and the body is far reaching and poorly understood. What we do know however is that removing the interference and restoring better communication has a great impact on a person’s physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Chiropractic adjustments work to remove the interference and promote optimal communication between the brain and the body, thus enabling a person to operate at their highest potential.
Why do I need your help? Traveling to Asia is not cheap, and as a student I don’t have a lot of money. The organization I am traveling with (http://www.aspinehealth.org/ ) has secured a travel package for us, and as such the $3,000 I am asking for will cover the cost of the flights and accommodations for this trip. It is not easy for me to ask for financial assistance, but I feel strongly that this is something that is worth doing, and worth being a part of. If you have the means to do so, and you feel inspired to help me on my journey, please know that I am fully committed to making the most out of this trip and providing the best possible care to those I am blessed with the opportunity to treat.
