About the project:
The video "Chile in Flames" was created when the protests in Chile broke out in October 2019 and we, a group of Chileans living in Leipzig, met for the first time and began to mobilize in solidarity with the Chilean protest movement.
We felt an urgent need to publish a brief summary in video format about the background and social context of the protests. The resulting video is now freely available in German, English, Spanish, and subtitled in Arabic, French, Italian, Swedish, Finnish and Hungarian https://vimeo.com/chileinflammen. It has been viewed around 2 million times on the Internet.
After the video received worldwide attention and a lot of positive feedback, we decided to continue the project in order to continue to report on the developing situation in Chile.
Initials support that we were fortunate to receive made it possible for a member of our collective to travel to Chile and film numerous interviews, street scenes and meetings there. In addition, we have also received a lot of material with which we can cut together a visually diverse and comprehensive documentary piece.
In order to be able to produce the film, we need some financial support, for which we turn to you. Whilst we ourselves are not receiving any remuneration for this, the production of audiovisual material carries considerable costs, including camera, sound, production support and editing.
Filming costs (transport, meals for volunteers and employees): € 1,170
Additional recordings: € 770
Editing and sound: € 1,700
Web hosting (Vimeo): € 60
This would allow us to cover the basic cost of the project and share the film with you at the end of February. All donations going beyond that enable us to continue the project by further documenting the political situation and especially the contributions and perspectives of local people.
If any funds from this campaign are not used by our project, they will be donated to free media collectives who do important work in Chile and have also supported us in this endeavour.

Das Video "Chile in Flammen", entstand als die Proteste in Chile Oktober 2019 ausgebrochen sind und wir (in Leipzig wohnende Chilen*innen) trafen und begannen uns zum ersten Mal, solidarisch mit der chilenischen Protestbewegung zu mobilisieren.
Wir fühlten eine dringende Notwendigkeit, über den Hintergrund und sozialen Kontext der Proteste eine kurz zusammengefasste Aufklärung im Videoformat zu veröffentlichen. Nachdem das Video weltweit Aufmerksamkeit und viel positive Rückmeldung bekam, beschlossen wir das Projekt fortzusetzen, um über die sich weiter entfaltende Lage in Chile weiter zu berichten. Wir bekamen glücklicherweise Unterstützung von Privatmenschen, wodurch es einen Mitglied unseres Kollektivs ermöglicht wurde nach Chile zu reisen und dort zahlreiche Interviews, Straßenszenen und Versammlungen zu filmen. Zusätzlich haben wir auch viel Material zugeschickt bekommen mit dem wir ein visuell vielfältiges und umfassendes Dokumentarstück zusammenschneiden können.
Um den Film aber fertig produzierten zu können brauchen wir etwas finanzielle Unterstützung, für die wir uns an euch richten. Obwohl wir dieses projekt freiwillig und ohne Bezahlung unternehme, trägt sas produzieren von audiovisuellem Material erhebliche Kosten, unter diesen Kamera, Ton, Produktionsunterstützung und Schnitt.

El cortometraje documental "Chile en llamas" surgió desde la contingencia para informar al mundo lo que estaba sucediendo en Chile desde el estallido de octubre, ante la desinformación y la manipulación mediática. Como grupo de chilenxs en Leipzig sentimos que esta era una buena manera de aportar a la lucha desde el otro lado del Atlántico.
Sentimos la urgente necesidad de publicar un breve resumen en formato audiovisual que explique los antecedentes y el contexto social de las protestas. El resultado de esta iniciativa ahora está disponible gratuitamente en alemán, inglés, español y subtitulado al árabe, francés, italiano, sueco, finlandés y húngaro en https://vimeo.com/chileinflammen , y se ha visto alrededor de 2 millones de veces en Internet.
Después de que el video recibió atención mundial y muchos comentarios positivos, decidimos continuar con el proyecto para seguir informando sobre la continuación de los hechos en Chile. Afortunadamente, obtuvimos el apoyo de personas privadas, lo que permitió a un miembro de nuestro colectivo viajar a Chile y filmar numerosas entrevistas, escenas callejeras, manifestaciones y cabildos. Además, hemos recibido una gran cantidad de material audiovisual con el que podemos reunir una pieza documental visualmente diversa y completa.
Para poder producir este segundo cortometraje documental, necesitamos apoyo financiero, por lo cual nos dirigimos a ustedes. Mientras nosotras mismas no estamos siendo remuneradas para este trabajo, el proceso de filmación tiene un costo asociado alto, pues incluye cámara, sonido, soporte de producción y edición y para cubrirlo adecuadamente recurrimos a esta plataforma de apoyo financiero.
