Children's Home Malaga Ciudad de los Niños

Hi, My name is Johanna Grey, and I live in Malaga. Firstly I want to thank everyone that kindly donated to last year's fundraiser. We could not have done it without you. In total, we raised a whopping 6593 euros, which was more than we ever thought was possible, thanks to your generosity and a truly amazing lady who donated a massive 3000 euros ! To say we are speechless is an understatement. So thank you, thank you, thank you. Everything we do with and for these children you make possible, so a huge thank you from all the children and us from the bottom of our hearts. Our goal last year was to raise 3000 euros, enough money to buy all the children Christmas presents. Not only did we manage this, but with the remaining money, we organised excursions. We intended to donate any leftover money directly to the children's home, but Lola, who runs the home, suggested arranging excursions as the most precious thing we could give these children was our time and love. We were all nervous as it was never our original intention to do day trips with them. My friends and I accepted the challenge and arranged fun days out with delicious packed lunches and goodies they never get to eat. The support I have received from all of my friends who got involved also has been incredible. We divided the children into four groups as we thought we could then give them more of our time and attention and started arranging fun days out every quarter on four consecutive Saturdays. Our first day out to Sierra Nevada was a huge success. We spent many hours traveling there and back, which gave us an excellent opportunity to speak to the children and get to know them. Most of them had not seen snow before, and we had lots of fun snowball fighting and sledging. Our next trip was to Fuengirola zoo, followed by lunch at burger king. We visited the aqua park a couple of times in the summer, and we start the trips to Amazon Adventure next week.After paying for Amazon Adventure, we have 164 euros left from last year's fundraiser. This money will buy all the children an advent calendar each. Last year we purchased them advent calendars; they had never seen them before and loved them. We will spend 65 euros on each child, the same as last year. With 49 children, that comes to 3185 euros. We need to raise this minimum so that they get Christmas presents each. Hopefully, we will be as lucky as last year and raise way more than that so that we can use the extra money for days out for the children. So I have raised the bar this year, and we will try to raise 7000 euros. It's a lot, I know, but I am sure we can do this with the help of friends and family spreading the word about the fundraiser. The more time we spend with these children, the more we fall in love with them. Each one with a tragic past, but they never complain. Some have suffered abuse and have bodies covered in scars; others have been dropped at social services because their parents can't afford to feed them! The children don't complain about their past, but the teachers tell us their stories. They all have a great mindset, are very positive and live for the day, thanks to the great job the home does. Volunteering and spending time with these children has taught me so much and I think I have gained as much from our time together as they have. Our intention was only ever to buy them Christmas presents, but after visiting the place, it's amazing how it consumes you. We have now become a collaboration family so two children can stay with us at weekends and holidays. This has been an enriching experience. It's been a tough few years with covid, and now the cost of living is rising, but I ask you please to donate what you can and put a smile on a child's face this Christmas. Hola, Mi nombre es Johanna Grey y vivo en Málaga. En primer lugar, quiero agradecer a todos los que amablemente donaron a la recaudación de fondos del año pasado. No podríamos haberlo hecho sin ti. En total, recaudamos la friolera de 6593 euros, que fue más de lo que jamás pensamos que fuera posible, ¡gracias a su generosidad y a una dama realmente increíble que donó la enorme cantidad de 3000 euros! Decir que nos quedamos sin palabras es quedarse corto. Así que gracias, gracias, gracias. Todo lo que hacemos con y para estos niños lo haces posible, así que muchas gracias de parte de todos los niños y de nosotros desde el fondo de nuestros corazones. Nuestro objetivo el año pasado era recaudar 3000 euros, dinero suficiente para comprar los regalos de Navidad de todos los niños. No solo logramos esto, sino que con el dinero restante organizamos excursiones. Teníamos la intención de donar el dinero sobrante directamente al hogar de niños, pero Lola, que dirige el hogar, sugirió organizar excursiones, ya que lo más preciado que podíamos darles a estos niños era nuestro tiempo y amor. Todos estábamos nerviosos ya que nunca fue nuestra intención original hacer excursiones de un día con ellos. Mis amigos y yo aceptamos el desafío y organizamos días divertidos con deliciosos almuerzos para llevar y golosinas que nunca llegan a comer. El apoyo que he recibido de todos mis amigos que se involucraron también ha sido increíble. Dividimos a los niños en cuatro grupos porque pensamos que así podríamos dedicarles más tiempo y atención y comenzamos a organizar días de diversión cada trimestre durante cuatro sábados consecutivos. Nuestro primer día en Sierra Nevada fue todo un éxito. Pasamos muchas horas viajando de ida y vuelta, lo que nos dio una excelente oportunidad de hablar con los niños y conocerlos. La mayoría de ellos no había visto nieve antes, y nos divertimos mucho jugando con bolas de nieve y trineos. Nuestro próximo viaje fue al zoológico de Fuengirola, seguido de un almuerzo en Burger King. Visitamos el parque acuático un par de veces en verano y comenzamos los viajes a Amazon Adventure la próxima semana. Después de pagar Amazon Adventure, nos quedan 164 euros de la recaudación de fondos del año pasado. Este dinero comprará a todos los niños un calendario de adviento cada uno. El año pasado les compramos calendarios de adviento; nunca los habían visto antes y los amaban. Gastaremos 65 euros en cada niño, lo mismo que el año pasado. Con 49 hijos, eso asciende a 3185 euros. Necesitamos aumentar este mínimo para que cada uno reciba regalos de Navidad. Con suerte, seremos tan afortunados como el año pasado y recaudaremos mucho más que eso para que podamos usar el dinero extra para los días libres para los niños. Así que he subido el listón este año, e intentaremos recaudar 7000 euros. Es mucho, lo sé, pero estoy seguro de que podemos hacer esto con la ayuda de amigos y familiares que corran la voz sobre la recaudación de fondos. Cuanto más tiempo pasamos con estos niños, más nos enamoramos de ellos. Cada uno con un pasado trágico, pero nunca se quejan. Algunos han sufrido abusos y tienen el cuerpo cubierto de cicatrices; ¡otros han sido dejados en los servicios sociales porque sus padres no pueden permitirse alimentarlos! Los niños no se quejan de su pasado, pero los profesores nos cuentan sus historias. Todos tienen una gran mentalidad, son muy positivos y viven al día, gracias al gran trabajo que hace la casa. Ser voluntario y pasar tiempo con estos niños me ha enseñado mucho y creo que he aprendido tanto como ellos de nuestro tiempo juntos. Nuestra intención era solo comprarles regalos de Navidad, pero después de visitar el lugar, es increíble cómo te consume. Ahora nos hemos convertido en una familia de colaboración para que dos niños puedan quedarse con nosotros los fines de semana y días festivos. Esta ha sido una experiencia enriquecedora. Con la Navidad a la vuelta de la esquina, decidimos lanzar otra recaudación de fondos para poder comprar todos los regalos de los niños nuevamente este año, y todos los fondos sobrantes se ser utilizado para días de diversión, que los niños esperan y disfrutan. Han sido unos años difíciles con covid, y ahora el costo de vida está aumentando, pero les pido que donen lo que puedan y pongan una sonrisa en la cara de un niño esta Navidad. Si no puede donar, pase nuestra recaudación de fondos; Cuanta más gente vea esto, más recaudamos. Los mantendremos informados con actualizaciones, al igual que el año pasado.
