Children's Illustrated Picture Books

Hi there! My name is Rae Chastain. I'm an aspiring children's book writer and illustrator. I've always been dabbling in some creative discipline or other, but with a stressful, full-on job, I've had very little time to fully explore my ability or talents. You see- I'm a Teacher at a secondary school, and I've been teaching for 13 years. And I want to stop teaching. Book illustrating and writing has become a new realised passion for me, and I want to commit to it full-time and develop my skills and the books that I write. I'm looking to raise £15K through Kickstarter funding towards getting my stories self-published and placed into book stores.

So, what you'll see in the video I've created is examples of the 2 stories I've written. The stories are fun, full of life and teach children between 3-7 some general moral lessons.  I've written 4 stories, but so far have illustrated 2 out of the 4 I've written.

My first story is fully complete, and is a 32 page book, and features the story of a shy octopus and a mermaid. There's a good plot development in the story, and I can imaging children and parents would love reading the story alike.

My second story is about a misunderstood monster and an impoverished young girl, and the friendship they develop that changes them both for the better.
