Helping Children of Kathmandu-Nepal

Donation protected
I'll say it time and time again, I never expected to be so far away from home, on my own and never in a million years expected to end up volunteering in Nepal. But I am so glad Nepal found me! At first this was just a volunteer experience that I have been longing to do for years but never had the courage to do so, it was so important for me to try to challenge myself, to get out of my comfort zone and take care of my mental health. However I soon discovered my help was needed more than just volunteering.Since arriving two months ago, I've seen the challenges the children face first hand. From lack of food, clothes, toiletries, school supplies and maintenance issues. I, myself have been using my own money to help out with expenses as much as I am able to but it is not enough. Before I have to come back to Canada I would like to help as much as I can.

These children come from various remote areas of Nepal and in most cases their families were unable to take care of them due to poverty, death of a parent, disability and alcoholism. They live in childrens home hoping for a better future and all while attending school in Kathmandu.

The children have truly touched my heart in ways I've never experienced before, they inhabit a spirit so positive and loving you cannot help but reciprocate the same feelings. Since living and working with them I feel as their equal and I cannot express the type of love I receive from them, like helping me wash my clothes or wanting to give me their last bit of food when they do not have enough for themselves. The compassion I've got to experience really moved me, I was actually suppose to be back in Canada a month ago but stayed back just to help out some more. Since arriving here the most I've been away from these children has only been a week (because I couldn't handle being gone from them for too long hehe). I've had unfortunate things happen to me like not being in the best of accomdation, having lice in my hair or put in situations no women should have to endure but the children are what keep me going. I've never truly been this happy in my life before and this is why I want to return the happiness right back to them! And this cannot be done without your help!

I am working with an NGO called New Nepal Society Center and also living with an NGO called Chhahari. The posts I've shared these past few weeks describe both NGOs. All donations will go towards either NGO in the best way possible such as for food, clothes, toiletries, school supplies or maintenance issues. Once I receive the donations I will also post pictures to show where exactly the money was spent.

Thank you for reading, and please from the bottom of my heart and my childrens' hearts any donation helps! Big or small! We will truly be grateful. Peace, Hope and Love - Priya & kids.
